Autism Walk in Chicago
Mayor Emanuel and Congressman Quigley to Visit Soldier Field Supporting the Chicago Walk Now for Autism Speaks This Saturday

The 11th Annual fundraiser for autism fundraising and awareness, known as Chicagoland’s Walk Now for Autism Speaks, will take place this Saturday, May 17th, at Soldier Field. Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-05) will be in attendance, and they will deliver a speech to the expected audience of 20,000 attendees.

This event serves as an important platform to raise funds and increase awareness for autism in the Chicagoland area.

The events Purpose

This event serves as a vital source of funding for Autism Speaks, allowing the organization to make a significant impact in the Chicagoland area through various initiatives. One such initiative is the allocation of science grants to top research institutions in the area, such as the University of Chicago, UIC, and Northwestern, which have helped advance our understanding of autism spectrum disorder.

To even further support the local community, Autism Speaks has also provided support to the Teachers and school personnel of Chicago Public Schools, training them on the effective use of the Autism Speaks School Community Tool Kit.

It works because these teachers and school personnel will implement strategies in various classrooms to support children with autism better. Additionally, the Chicago Chapter of Autism Speaks has also partnered up with numerous organizations that provide resources such as therapy, recreation, and education for families affected by autism.

All attendees can expect a day full of fun activities, educational resources, and networking opportunities at this year’s Walk Now for Autism Speaks event. The walk itself will be followed by an after-party featuring live music, a petting zoo, and bounce houses, making it a truly unforgettable family experience.

Promoting awareness and advocating for the needs of individuals and families

The organization continues to work towards its mission of funding groundbreaking research, promoting awareness, and advocating for the needs of individuals and families affected by autism. With over $200 million committed to research and innovative resources, Autism Speaks remains at the forefront of the fight against autism spectrum disorders.

Their efforts have resulted in significant advancements in improving the lives of individuals with autism and their families, offering hope for a brighter future.
