Hockey for Autism in Chicago
IceHogs to Wear Chicago Storm Jerseys for Autism Awareness Night

As we start a fresh new year full of promise and community spirit, the Rockford IceHogs are proud to announce their 14th annual Autism Awareness Night, presented by LawnCare By Walter. This special event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m., as the IceHogs face off against the Chicago Wolves at the BMO Center.

IceHogs will wear specialty jerseys

In case you’re still in the dark about the relevance of this event, it’s about more than just hockey—it’s about creating opportunities, building community, and fostering inclusion. Specifically, in this event, the IceHogs will wear specialty jerseys designed to honor Chicago Storm Special Hockey (CSSH), an organization that has created an opportunity for children and adults with developmental disabilities to experience the joy and camaraderie of playing hockey.

At its core, the CSSH goes beyond the game itself, providing participants with a supportive environment to develop skills, build confidence, and form lasting friendships.

At its core, Chicago Storm Special Hockey (CSSH) goes beyond the game itself, providing participants with a supportive environment where they can develop skills, build confidence, and form lasting friendships. What’s more impressive about CSSH is that it welcomes players of all ages—from a 5-year-old just learning to skate to a 55-year-old looking to stay active, engage socially, or rekindle their love for the game.

Charity will be in the form of an auction

That said, this event will also serve as a charity initiative aimed at giving back to the community and supporting disabled individuals. The charity will be in the form of an auction. Specifically, a select number of IceHogs/Storm specialty jerseys will be available for bidding. Bidders will place their bids via the team’s DASH platform, accessible through the IceHogs app, during the game.

Those who win will have the unique opportunity to receive their jersey directly from the player immediately following the game, creating a personal and memorable connection to the event. For fans unable to attend, additional opportunities to bid will be available during a second online auction scheduled for Jan. 27-31.
